The Car cutters
God said go play with the kids and help them make toys......
This was the start of our carpentry ministry. Nathan works with kids from 4 to 18 making toy cars, tables, pilla covers, windows and cabinets. This is an opportunity for the youth to learn a skill that could help them feed their families. Everything is made from scrap wood, mainly shipping pallets.
Thank you Pastor Peter Payson for your continued support of this project!!!!
This has turned out to be more than making cars. I was amazed to see that it is also therapeutic. Many times the kids beat the poor wood to death, but all their anger and hostility is taken out on that wood and not another person. Because I have a limited amount of hand tools, the kids also learn patience and cooperation, older kids helping the younger ones. The kids are amazed at their finished projects and it gives them a great sense of accomplishment.
And the parents are happy their children are not on the streets. There are over 40 moms with beautiful tables in their homes that their babies made for them. This has brought great favor for Nathan in the community of Los Pinos and opened the door for further ministry.
After a child makes a car for him or herself we ask them to make one for the project. These cars are gifts for donations to the project.
